HBS Christmas Blues Night, 13 December

The last HBS event for 2018 so make something of it.

Poster above – please have a good look.  That same poster appears on the HBS FaceBook page so check that also. Biddy’s website has a slightly different poster.

A fun-filled evening of raffles, prizes and awards, the night will be busy, humming – so busy that HBS is trialing Derek’s proposal to better control the Whiteboard (see below).  We will unveil Jake and Elwood (what? who?) as a surprise for everyone.

HBS Members must have a valid membership card to qualify for drink discounts, food, and prizes.  Check that you have your cards and if you haven’t let Dean know you need one available at the door on the night. Remember, membership is only $10.

“I heard it was a dress up affair?”  Yes, come in dress, as an elf, one of Santa’s workers, gnomes (so if you collapse in someone’s front yard on the way home you won’t be out of place), maybe your favourite rock star, etc – just dress up – come along –  have fun.  Come incognito even!

As usual Gold Coin in the hat at the door.

Acts Must Book Christmas Blues Night Performances

All acts will get the opportunity to play 2 songs (yes TWO) and one of them should be a Christmas song (Christmassy song).  BUT, in order to get on the board bandleaders must contact Derek to book a slot no later than 10 December – all bandleaders will be reminded by e-mail.  If you are not on the bandleaders mailing list and would like to contribute 2 (two) songs contact Derek (derekhartley@xtra.co.nz) or HBS directly (hamiltonbluesnz@gmail.com) with “Christmas” in the subject line.

Moo’vember Xtravaganza, Saturday 3 November

Moo’vember Xtravaganza in conjunction with The Roadhouse (Morrinsville) and double bass promotions

Roadhouse Bar and Grill
41 Studholme St, Morrinsville 3300 tel. 0274 237 194

Time: 1.00pm till late

Admission: $10 on the door

HBS created a very successful event in Morrinsville that was very well supported and enjoyed by everyone attending.

The bands really showcased the depth of talent available for the audience’s pleasure and were extremely professional, handling the change to a single stage set-up instead of two stages due to the weather.

The day kicked off at 4pm and ran to time all evening through ’til the small hours of Sunday morning.

Recognition is due Phil Walsh for the huge effort our resident MC and his business ‘double bass promotions’ put in as well as: Matt Ferris (Songster); Kim Earle (Songstress) and Greg Bailey (Soundman extraordinaire) – thanks jointly for generating the great publicity and ticket sales.

The Roadhouse Bar was a fabulous venue – Proprietor Phil Marsh, Fee Powell (Bar Manager), along with all the bar staff made this event fun and friendly.

The barbecue in the Garden Bar was manned by a host of HBS members ensuring everyone had plenty to eat served with lashings of laughs and laughter.

By eavesdropping, it was heard many times that the non-performing members really enjoyed contributing and getting to meet the other members and helpers.

The vibe and atmosphere just pumped.  If you didn’t get to come along, HBS’ll be doing this again so watch this space.

On behalf of Stan and I (being the newbies on this Event Committee) and all the bands we want to thank Dean and Phil for taking care of all the equipment and ensuring that this event ran smoothly.  Without their effort during a very late night, none of this would have happened.

Thanks go to the bbq cooks – Cherie and Dennis; Genevieve; Gavin; Bobbi; Angela and Stan; Debbie and Pauline; along with the door helpers Bobbi, Cherie and Angela – your efforts were very appreciated.

Lets recognize the bands – Out of the Blues; Magic & 3am Blues; Black Sheep; Satin Tractor; Steam Pudding; Detour; Al’s Angels and Kim Earle – Thank you for the Music!!!
